Where The ACTA Did That Come From?

Those of you whom still believe that we are living in a Democratic and free society, should ask themselves, why every country in Europe has been signed on to a piece of legislation by the simple acceptance and signature of the European Commission.

In the USA President Obama surreptitiously signed the document in private.

The object of the legislation, which comes hot on the heels of the UK’s deplorable act of closing down Press TV, will be used to silence any site on-line, with which the Authorities do not approve.

At a stroke we have lost our right to freely discuss our opinions and ideas. Sites such as my own will be in the front line for closure.

The excuse for this is the money which it is claimed is being lost through the Piracy of ideas and the theft of music and films on-line.

The reaction to this theft of OUR Internet should be swift and hard. Conduct no more transactions on-line. Refuse to buy Music, Books, Gifts, no more banking, the government will have to be made to feel the pain of this decision.

Once upon a time, when you bought something, you owned it but not any more. You pay for a Microsoft programme for example, and every time you load it into a computer you are obliged to ask for a code from Microsoft. You are reminded that you can only reload it so many times and then I suppose it will self destruct.

I have loaned books and music to friends on hundreds of occasions, yet now in order to loan a friend a piece of music it must be copied before it can be loaned.

In my home I have hundreds of CDs DVDs VHS Videos and books, which I bought second-hand. Now there is nothing to buy. Everything is virtual, we are living in tyranny.

Be sure, if we tolerate this, we are lost.
